Last night on his show, late night host Jimmy Kimmel thrust himself into the center of the healthcare debate, roasting Republicans after Trumpcare author Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) lied to his face about supporting a bill that would remove protections for children like his who are born with preexisting conditions.

Kimmel has been such an effective messenger for Obamacare defenders that Republicans have begun trashing him in him in the media, arguingthat the comedian has no business discussing healthcare.

Music icon John Legend knows better (tweets below).

Legend saw this tweet from from Slate Chief Political Correspondent Jamelle Bouie, reminding the twitterverse how absurd it is for supporters of a reality personality president to insinuate that a comedian’s opinions are not valid:

In a world where Donald Trump is president I am honestly shocked that people are doing this “stay in your lane” thing with Jimmy Kimmel.

In two tweets, Legend pointed out the real difference between Kimmel and Trump on healthcare: The comedian actually seems to know what he’s talking about.

As painful as it is to have a reality show charlatan in the White House, we should all be grateful that we live in a country where insightful comedians are free to speak their minds — and musicians too.

Kimmel knows far more about this Trumpcare bill than Trump himself. #TrumpcareSucks https://t.co/drSNB7cesB

Someone please ask Trump what’s in the bill. He has no idea.
